A correctly selected steering seal can still arrive at the workbench with the wrong label, an opened package or visible damage. A receiving check helps separate a product-matching question from a handling problem. This checklist is for distributors and rebuilders receiving loose seals or steering rack repair kits; it is not a substitute for the supplier’s product-specific storage instructions.
1. Match the delivery to the purchase record
Before opening bags, compare the product code, ordered dimensions, stated material, reference numbers and quantity with the purchase order. For a kit, use the agreed packing list: similar-looking rings should not be treated as interchangeable. Record discrepancies before mixing new stock with existing inventory.
2. Photograph packaging and visible condition
Keep a photograph of the outer label and any available batch or date marking. If a package is crushed, wet or already open, record it and keep the affected items separate for review. Without stretching or forcing the seal, check for obvious cuts, distorted lips or contamination. A visual check does not verify material grade, hardness or suitability for a particular rack.

For example, keep the K-00265 product reference linked to its receiving record. Retain the supplier’s label rather than relying on a product photo to identify material or batch.
3. Protect stock between receiving and installation
For elastomeric seals, protect stock from direct sunlight, contamination and ozone-producing equipment. Keep parts packaged and avoid storage that stretches, twists or compresses them. Confirm the required storage conditions with the supplier for the specific compound; do not apply one temperature limit or shelf-life figure to every seal in a mixed kit.
4. Keep traceability when issuing parts
When splitting a delivery into smaller packs, carry the original identification and available batch/date information onto each pack. Use the supplier’s stated storage or expiry information for stock rotation. If the history or condition is uncertain, ask for an assessment rather than assigning a new shelf life yourself. Keep the package with the job record until the parts have been accepted for the repair.
For a matching question, read the oil seal size matching guide. For a delivery query, send KOKI the order reference, label photo, quantity affected and clear condition photos.
